Man charged for shooting during fatal confrontation outside East Bremerton bar sentenced

A 23-year-old man accused of shooting another man who appeared to fatally shoot a third man during a fight outside a bar in East Bremerton last year pleaded guilty to an assault charge and received a 9-month jail sentence earlier this month.

Pierre Taylor had faced a first-degree assault charge in Kitsap County Superior Court following a confrontation in the parking lot outside McCloud’s Grill House off Wheaton Way in June 2023, but as part of a plea agreement, Taylor pleaded guilty to a second-degree assault charge on Jan. 8. Taylor made an “Alford” plea in which a person pleads guilty but does not admit guilt.

Deputy prosecuting attorney Greta Coleman told Judge Tina Robinson that the case had been “heavily” negotiated and noted, “There were some evidentiary and factual issues with the case that led the state to believe that reduction was appropriate.”

Further, Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney Chad Enright told the Kitsap Sun on Friday that there was a fourth person at the scene of the fight that no one was willing to identify and said that surveillance video that captured parts of the fight was grainy and didn’t show the whole incident.
