No work, no school, no shopping: Snohomish County rally for ‘Workers Over Billionaires’ May 1

A May Day visibility event is planned from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 1, along sidewalks near the Lynnwood Convention Center, as part of a nationwide day of action organized under the theme “Workers Over Billionaires.”

Organizers said the event will include workers, students and community members gathering to wave signs and raise awareness around labor, economic and immigration issues. The Lynnwood gathering is one of several planned across Snohomish County and coincides with similar events in cities across the country.

Participants are supporting a “no work, no school, no shopping” pledge intended to highlight concerns about economic inequality, workers’ rights and corporate influence. Organizers said the action is meant to demonstrate unity and draw attention to policy priorities such as tax reform, labor protections and democratic participation…
