‘Tax me more’: Curley mocks Katie Wilson’s $1.3B levy for day care, education as council skips voter approval

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson is pushing a $1.3 billion levy for education and child care that would expand day care hours and provide additional meals for children.

The levy is expected to draw funding through increased property taxes. Based on Seattle’s average home price of $872,000, the levy would add roughly $600 annually in property taxes.

“The people of Seattle just really can’t get enough of taxes. The new one is $1.3 billion, which will allow the government to feed your children, because God forbid you feed your kids.” John Curley said on “The John Curley Show” on KIRO Newsradio. “Also, they want to have a daycare that’s open for a longer period of time, more daycare centers, so that the government can also help raise your child. The people in Seattle are all in on it, ‘Yeah, tax me. Tax me more.’ Then I guess the story got kind of overlooked, because while Katie Wilson was talking all about it, shocking that somebody was shooting at somebody. Wouldn’t it have been ironic if she were there to talk about how much safer the city is?”…
