Fentanyl, meth dominate majority of King County drug cases; 191 fatal overdoses this year

SEATTLE — Prosecutors in King County filed 46 felony drug-dealing charges in the first three months of 2026, with a significant share concentrated in a handful of Seattle neighborhoods, according to new data released by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

A little more than one-third of the cases were tied to three areas: 12th Ave S and South Jackson Street in the Chinatown-International District, Belltown, and the Third Avenue corridor.

The data also show the geographic spread of cases. Of the 46 charges, 25 — or 54% — were filed in Seattle. The largest single category, however, came from outside the city, accounting for 21 cases. Within Seattle, Belltown saw eight cases, followed by seven near 12th and Jackson, five in Capitol Hill, three in the University District, and one each near 3rd Ave and Pine Street, and in Beacon Hill…
