Families looking for free things to do with kids in Birmingham this summer are in luck: Birmingham Children’s Theatre (BCT) is partnering with Birmingham Public Libraries to bring a live production of The Jungle Book directly to neighborhood library branches across the city.

Running Saturdays from June 20 through July 25, 2026, this family-friendly theatrical experience is completely free and open to the public, though reservations are required due to limited seating. Here’s the schedule of library performances—each show starts at 10:30 a.m.

The Story
Adapted by Greg Banks from Rudyard Kipling’s beloved stories and directed by Irealle Sylvas, The Jungle Book follows young Mowgli on an unforgettable jungle adventure filled with humor, excitement, and heart. Along the way, audiences will meet fan-favorite characters like Baloo the Bear, Bagheera the Panther, and the fearsome tiger Shere Khan as Mowgli navigates the wild jungle and discovers where he truly belongs.
The fast-paced production is designed for audiences of all ages, making it a perfect summer outing for families with young children.
