Jefferson County Man Convicted of Running Drug Trafficking Operation While Incarcerated

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — A Jefferson County man has been convicted in federal court of coordinating a methamphetamine trafficking operation while serving a life sentence in the Alabama Department of Corrections.

A jury found 43-year-old Samdrekus Eugene Bester guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine following a four-day trial before U.S. District Judge Madeline H. Haikala, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama.

Prosecutors said Bester used a contraband cell phone while incarcerated to coordinate methamphetamine sales during December 2022 and January 2023.
