Jefferson County teen burned by microwaved NeeDoh toy warns others about TikTok trend

JEFFERSON CO., Ala. (WBRC) – A TikTok trend involving NeeDoh toys is still spreading, and a Bagley teen who was burned two years ago is now warning people to stop.

Eli Blackmon was 11 years old when he saw a trend on TikTok showing users putting NeeDoh toys in the microwave to make them squishier. After removing the toy and playing with it, the toy popped. The hot material inside burned his neck and chest, leaving scars he will carry for the rest of his life.

“Don’t do it. It’s stupid. Consequences aren’t worth it,” Eli, now 13, said.

Third-degree burns, months of recovery

The burns were third-degree — full thickness. His mother, Fallon Blackmon, said recovery stretched over four months and more than a dozen doctor visits. Doctors repeatedly scraped away dead skin to help new tissue grow, a painful process that included chemical treatments…
