BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Prosecutors are asking a judge to combine two Birmingham-area shooting cases involving defendant Damien McDaniel into a single trial.
McDaniel is accused in a string of homicides, including two mass shootings, with Birmingham Police at one point investigating his alleged killings as murder-for-hire.
According to court filings, the Hush Lounge and 81st Place shootings happened less than 24 hours apart and are described as part of a continuous course of conduct.
The state argues the cases share witnesses and forensic evidence, and consolidation would streamline the trial without unfair prejudice…
