FULTONDALE, Ala. (WIAT) — A sixth grader is recovering at Children’s of Alabama after being shot in the arm following a fight between two mothers at the Chapel Creek Apartments.
Fultondale Police Chief Marcel Walker said investigators believe the victim’s mother and another child’s mother were arguing over an earlier incident involving their children on the apartment complex playground.
Police responded to a 911 call around 8:30 p.m. Monday. Walker said investigators believe one mother went to the other woman’s apartment with her son. What began as a verbal confrontation became physical. At some point, Walker said, a firearm was displayed and a shot was fired, striking the sixth grader.
