DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A Delray Beach property manager was arrested after allegedly preying on non-English-speaking renters to steal over $100,000 in a years-long rent scheme.
According to the Delray Beach Police Department, 44-year-old Jessyka May Hernandez Ortega was arrested Saturday following a lengthy investigation into missing rent funds at the Lucaya apartment community, located on Ilene Court.
Complex web of fraud
Investigators say the scheme unraveled in May 2025 when the community’s owner, Maya Prashkovsky LLC, began auditing tenant leases to verify that physical paperwork matched entries in their leasing software, Yardi.
