Freeport man, uncle charged in 2022 Florida murder

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WTVO) – A Freeport man and his uncle are facing first-degree murder charges in connection to the fatal stabbing of a Florida man nearly two years ago.

Yoel Lazaro Paredes, 24, and his uncle Reynaldo Paredes, 53, are both accused of stabbing Jorge Mobilla Menendez on April 3, 2022 after the trio left a sports bar together. The West Palm Beach Police Department said someone called 911 later that day after finding the victim’s body in the dumpster at a senior living facility. Surveillance video captured Yoel Paredes’ car, a 2003 white four-door Mercury, near that dumpster.

WPBPD said investigators used DNA evidence to link the pair to the crime. U.S. Marshals Service arrested Yoel Paredes Tuesday morning on the street in Freeport. Homicide detectives arrested Reynaldo Paredes at his home in Palm Beach County.

Each man is facing one count of first-degree murder. Yoel Paredes is in the Stephenson County Jail, while Reynaldo Paredes is in the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Main Detention Center without bond.
