BOISE, Idaho — The Military Reserve, just outside of downtown Boise, is a web of trails rich in Idaho history.
The reserve’s recorded history dates back to 1863 when pioneers trekking the Oregon Trail were searching for shelter.
“This land was inhabited by the original Boise Valley people, and they were forcibly removed and that coincides with colonization,” historian Ashley O’Hara said. “The U.S. federal government decided it would be in their best interest to construct a fort, which they named Fort Boise.”…
