‘Exorbitant and misused:’ A Star homeowners association tries to amend rulebook after Idaho Attorney General finds illegal transfer fees

STAR, Idaho — Nearly 100 homeowners in a Star community attended an HOA board meeting Tuesday night where the board made an attempt to bring their governing documents into compliance with Idaho law after the state Attorney General found the homeowners association had been charging illegal transfer fees.

But the amendment never came to a vote because not enough homeowners turned out.

The Pristine Springs Homeowners Association is one of three entities named in a settlement announced May 8 by Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador.
