Wu rejects $1.4 million in Boston city council budget changes, saying it’s to save jobs

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and the city council are still fighting over how to spend the city’s $4.9 billion budget.

On Wednesday, Wu sent councilors a letter agreeing to most of their amendments to her budget. But she rejected $1.4 million of the $11.8 million in additional funding they were seeking for programs related to seniors, immigrants, the arts and others.

Debating what amounts to a sliver of the overall budget — just .03% — may seem trivial. But Wu said that sum represents jobs…
