Abandoned dog who had tumor removed needs your help

Big Momma, a 2-year-old mastiff, was found tied to a pole in Trafton Park last month with a 13-pound tumor on her underbelly.

Malden police and animal shelter officials are asking for the public’s help in providing for an abandoned dog named Big Momma, according to a statement from officials.

Big Momma, a 2-year-old mastiff, was found tied to a pole in Trafton Park last month with a 13-pound tumor on her underbelly, according to The Boston Globe.

Her presence at the park was reported by a good Samaritan, who took the dog to Malden police, according to NBC10 Boston.

Shelter officials said she was scared, cold, and hungry upon arrival at the police station.

Bill Bowdridge, the owner of Big Daddy Doggie Daycare in Malden, stepped in and took care of Big Momma, according to the Globe.

“It was the first dog I’ve ever witnessed that cried real tears, and the more we wiped, the more the tears came. It would break anybody’s heart,” he told NBC10.

The tumor was successfully removed and Big Momma was spayed at BluePearl Pet Hospital in Charlestown, according to the news station. However, these operations can be expensive, costing thousands of dollars.
