Mixed verdict for man on trial after shooting of teen looking for spot to take homecoming photos

DENVER (KDVR) — A man was found guilty Monday of second-degree assault and illegal discharge of a firearm after shooting a 17-year-old in the face while two teens were looking for a spot to take homecoming pictures in 2024.

The jury also found Brent Metz not guilty of two counts of felony menacing.

This comes after the former Mountain View town council member received a call from his girlfriend in September 2024 saying that two people were on the property. A 17-year-old and a 15-year-old were trying to find a place to take homecoming photos.

The teens knocked on the door but went to their car when they didn’t get an answer. They were going to leave a note when a car pulled up, the door opened, and then a bullet went through the windshield and hit the boy in the head…
