The church fire put out late Friday morning after it forced evacuations from the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Broomfield was caused by someone misusing a blowtorch on dry leaves.
The fire was first reported at 9:22 a.m., according to North Metro Fire Rescue spokesperson Katie Converse. There were two employees on the church grounds, located at 6995 W. 120th Ave., and they were evacuated, Converse said.
The fire was put out as of 11:32 a.m.,, according to a follow-up post. No one was injured, according to Converse, who said the fire started when someone misused a blowtorch on dry leaves. The flames spread to the church building.
No one was arrested, according to Broomfield Police Department spokesperson Rachel Haslett. Police are working with North Metro to investigate and determine whether citations are warranted, she said…
