LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Colo. (KDVR) — If you live in the area of Lookout Mountain, expect to see Xcel Energy crews up in your area as they are working on a portion of a $1.7 billion wildfire mitigation project.
“We are replacing the overhead wire with more wildfire-resilient wire,” Andrew Holder, the Director of Community Relations and Local Government Affairs for Xcel Colorado, said. “We are also inspecting poles along that route to make sure they haven’t reached the end of their lives, and we’ve identified we are going to replace 210 poles along this five-mile stretch.”

This project in the Lookout Mountain area is expected to take several months, and during the process there could be temporary outages while replacing the poles or enhancing the lines. Xcel said people in the area will get a heads-up before their homes’ electricity is impacted.
“This project is a five-mile stretch of reconstructive work,” Holder said. “We are replacing the current overhead wire with more wildfire-resilient wire.”…
