How to protect plants, outdoor irrigation systems before hard freeze moves in

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (KDVR) — On Thursday afternoon at Front Range Gardens in Broomfield, there was a flurry of activity as workers moved racks of plants to areas to protect them from freezing temperatures in the forecast.

Large fabric tarps were also being draped over plants most susceptible to extremely cold weather.

David Gesink is the manager at Front Range in Broomfield. He said a lot of people have already planted their petunias, verbena and chokeberries, to name a few.

“So with this freeze, you want to protect as best you can anything actively growing,” Gesink said…
