Construction begins on 63rd Avenue East widening project in Manatee County

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – Construction starts Tuesday on a major roadway upgrade along 63rd Avenue East between U.S. 301 and Tuttle Avenue, a project county commissioners approved June 16.

Manatee County leaders say the work is part of the county’s “Big 6” transportation improvement projects—six priority infrastructure investments aimed at enhancing regional mobility, improving public safety, reducing congestion and supporting continued economic growth.

The 1.12-mile project, funded through Manatee County’s Capital Improvement Program, totals $65,633,047. Once complete, 63rd Avenue East will be widened from two lanes to four, adding capacity for an estimated 10,000 vehicles per day, while improving safety and access for drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists…
