The sheer number of empty U.S. Open seats became more and more apparent throughout Saturday at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.
Social media was rife with comments from armchair viewers to dedicated golf reporters about the dwindling attendance. It was clear on TV and in person on a warm Saturday on Long Island.
