In August 2026, New York City initiated a significant policy shift in municipal traffic enforcement. Sanitation workers began affixing large, neon-green adhesive decals to the windows of motor vehicles parked in violation of Alternate-Side Parking (ASP) rules.
The policy reintroduction follows the passage of Intro 0092-2026 by the New York City Council in a 41–10 vote. Sponsored by Council Member Gale A. Brewer, the law authorizes the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) to apply 8.5-by-11-inch warning stickers directly to non-compliant vehicles.
