Retired Union City Police Officer Juan Estrella again took the stand in his own discrimination trial on Tuesday before the court takes a break until September 8th.
At one point, Estrella’s attorneys, Yasmin Estrella and Ernest Ianetti, tried to illicit testimony about the treatment of other Dominican cops who were not given assignments by former Police Chief Nichelle Luster – a defendant in the case who defended her decisions on the stand.
In one instance, a Dominican officer was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant, but then immediately transferred to the night shift. However, Hudson County Superior Court Judge Kalimah Ahmad did not allow the testimony to be heard on the record as evidence.
