NEW YORK — A man was critically injured in a hit-and-run in Brooklyn on Saturday.
Staff at a restaurant on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Union Street say around 2:30 p.m., suddenly there was a lot of commotion when a man was hit was by a car.
“We were shocked. Everybody run there. I see the blood. I scared a little bit, so I called 911,” one employee said. “He is shaking. I saw him. He just is shaking him. He cannot turn the body … A lot of people trying to help.”
Police say an 83-year-old man was crossing the street in a crosswalk when he was struck by a driver traveling westbound on Union Street. That driver didn’t stop.
Officers are still investigating, but according to a preliminary investigation, police believe the vehicle may have been a black Toyota Camry.
“The driver just kept going,” another employee said. “I see a man laying down on the street. People just come there and trying to help, and they call the ambulance and police.”
