A Friday night drive on the Grand Central Parkway turned deadly in Bayside when two cars collided near the Bell Boulevard exit, killing a 28-year-old man and injuring a 30-year-old woman and a 5-year-old boy, police said. The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. when a blue Audi driven by a 65-year-old man collided with a Toyota carrying the three victims. The 28-year-old Toyota driver was pronounced dead at a local hospital, while the woman and child were transported to nearby medical centers with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The Audi driver stayed on scene and was not injured, according to officials.
Crash on a Busy Bayside Stretch
The NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad responded to the scene and launched a formal probe into how the two vehicles collided, WABC reported. Investigators are reviewing the positions of the vehicles and interviewing witnesses as they work to reconstruct the chain of events leading up to the crash. While officers processed the wreckage late into the night, emergency crews rushed the injured woman and child to local hospitals.
