Ex-Officer Arrested in Bergenfield After Kicking In Front Door, Assaulting Father and Children
A Tuesday evening in Bergenfield, New Jersey turned violent fast – and the man behind it wasn’t a stranger to law enforcement. He was law enforcement. Or at least, he used to be.
What Happened on May 5
Just before 6 p.m., Nikola Lulaj, 52, of Seaside Heights, showed up at a Bergenfield home to confront a man over an unresolved personal dispute. He didn’t knock. He kicked the front door open.
A physical fight broke out and spilled into the street. The homeowner grabbed a baseball bat to protect himself and his children. That’s when things escalated in a way no parent should ever have to experience.
Lulaj seized the bat, turned it on the victim and his kids, smashed the front door and window, and forced his way back inside. Several adults and two juveniles were hurt. Bergenfield Police, along with officers from Dumont and Cresskill, responded to the scene…
