Tony Boloney’s first opened in Hoboken in 2014 and has been a late-night staple in the years since. Following a kitchen fire in July of 2025, the Hoboken location has been closed, leaving residents curious about the fate of the late-night pizza joint. For a while, the Jersey City location remained open as usual, even taking over delivery orders for the Hoboken outpost while renovations were ostensibly underway. This week, however, Hoboken Girl readers noted that the Jersey City location now appears to be permanently shut, with all signage removed and the space gutted. The team confirmed with HG that the Jersey City Tony Boloney’s has permanently closed with no plans to return. The future of the Hoboken location remains uncertain. Read on for more details surrounding Tony Boloney’s closure in Jersey City.
Long Road to Reopening: A Timeline
On July 31st, 2025, Tony Boloney’s experienced a small kitchen fire. At the time of the fire, the business told HG, “No one hurt, now just need to fix what was broken/burnt and get back open!” The restaurant closed for repairs and honored deliveries to the Hoboken area out of its Jersey City location.
Not-so-patiently awaiting the restaurant’s reopening, HG checked in with Tony Boloney’s in the months following the closure. In October 2025, the business said it hoped to reopen within a month and was experiencing insurance-related delays.
As of January 2026, the business shared that it was working through final building and infrastructure approvals and reopening once cleared. “It’s been a longer process than anyone wanted… We are excited to get back and serve the community that we love and want to get back to giving and being a part of the fabric,” Tony Boloney’s owner, Mike Hauke, told The Hoboken Girl. Mike also expressed gratitude to the community for its “outpouring of support.”
Months later, in May 2026, The Hoboken Girl received a DM from a reader indicating that the Jersey City location had suddenly closed. “All signage removed, interior gutted, and has been deleted off their website,” the message read. HG confirmed that Tony Boloney’s has removed both the Hoboken and Jersey City locations from its website.
The HG team then reached out to Mike Hauke, Tony Boloney’s owner, who confirmed that the Jersey City location is permanently closed, with no plans on re-opening or relocating within JC. As for Hoboken, it’s a bit more complicated, as the property owner is still working through the renovation and fire remediation with the insurance company. The Atlantic City location remains open, and a new location has opened in Arlington, VA (say hi to our sister brand, The Fairfax Girl!)…
