The gothic landmark tower that once housed the marble-lined Williamsburgh Savings Bank has sat largely silent for years–but that’s about to change. In a massive win for Brooklyn’s food scene, the vault is being traded for pasta. And honestly, if there’s one thing New Yorkers will gladly replace banking with, it’s carbs.
Global hospitality brand Casa Tua–the powerhouse behind hotspots in New York, Miami, Paris, Capri, and Aspen–is officially bringing an elevated food and beverage hall concept to the base of One Hanson Place. Set to open in 2027, the project aims to turn the 512-foot Art Deco landmark into a world-class dining destination.
A “Theatrical” Transformation
While the upper floors of the Clocktower were converted to luxury condos years ago, the breathtaking retail banking hall has struggled to find a permanent tenant. Now, the space will be reimagined as Casa Tua Cucina.
According to project details, the hall will feature:
- Theatrical Open Kitchens: Watch chefs prepare handmade pastas and wood-fired pizzas in real-time–basically dinner and a show
- Lively Aperitivo Bars: A central hub for Italian cocktails and pre-dinner drinks, because no NYC dining experience is complete without a spritz in hand
- A Curated Market: Offering ethically sourced ingredients from around the world for those moments you suddenly convince yourself you’re going to start cooking at home
- Private Dining: Hidden event spaces situated on the lower levels of the historic building
Preserving the 97-year-old Landmark
Despite the high-tech kitchens, the “Gothic-meets-Art-Deco” soul of the building will remain intact. Renderings show the original marble floors and soaring ceilings unchanged, accented by lush greenery and modern bar accoutrement…
