A New York City landlord has filed a civil complaint against one of their tenants after she allegedly wished “death” on her neighbors in the building
The owners of an apartment building on East 77th Street in Manhattan filed a lawsuit against resident Layla Al-Marzooqi in New York County Supreme Court on May 15, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. The property owners allege Al-Marzooqi violated her lease agreement, which forbids “objectionable conduct” by interfering with “the rights of others to peacefully enjoy their apartments.”
Most notably, the owners claim in the complaint that Al-Marzooqi affixed a sign to her door reading “DEATH to you beyond below around above this apartment space.” They allege it is visible to every resident who passes through a common hallway.
Al-Marzooqi also “on numerous occasions, screamed at and verbally accosted neighboring tenants in the public hallways” to the point where female tenants “reported that they no longer feel safe” heading to the laundry area in the basement, the complaint claims…
