STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A violent early-morning shooting outside a Target store has left a young woman hospitalized and police searching for a suspect who fled the scene on a motorcycle.

Shooting Unfolds Outside Busy Shopping Area

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. outside a retail complex on Richmond Avenue in Staten Island.

Authorities say a 20-year-old woman was shot in the neck while near the entrance of the shopping area, which includes a Target store.

It remains unclear whether she was entering the Target location or another nearby business at the time.
