BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Nearly 2,000 volunteers gathered in Buffalo’s South District Sunday for the second day of the 7th annual Eight Days of Hope outreach program.
The project aims to provide free repairs, including landscaping, painting, roofing, and plumbing, to at least 100 families in the South District, as well as some neighborhood spaces.
“The South District is a community of pride, and, you know, we want the public spaces that they have access to, to be high quality, to serve them well, and we hope that some of the repairs and touch-ups that we’re doing can offer that to them,” Eight Days of Hope director Trace Gillis said. “We think it’s just a great opportunity for the community to unify, to come together, to serve one another, to serve their neighbor, so that’s why we do what we do.”…
