It is with profound sadness that JazzBuffalo and our entire jazz community mourn the passing of Kevin O’Brien, one of the most influential musicians, ambassadors, and champions of jazz our region has known.
For decades, Kevin devoted his life to sharing the joy, artistry, and spirit of Gypsy jazz. Through Babik and later The Hot Club of Buffalo, he introduced countless audiences throughout Western New York and beyond to the timeless music inspired by the legendary Django Reinhardt. His warm musicianship, unwavering dedication, and love for this unique style of jazz helped establish Buffalo as one of America’s premier destinations for authentic Gypsy jazz.
