BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Gov. Kathy Hochul met with local leaders and residents Monday to discuss the executive order signed last week pausing data centers. The moratorium halts approval for new data centers across the state until July 2027.
The meeting was held at the Kenmore-Tonawanda municipal building, where just last month hundreds of residents showed up in opposition of the proposed data center at the former Tonawanda Coke site.
Many residents and environmental groups, including the Clean Air Coalition of WNY, called for the moratorium to be passed so the state could use the pause to study the environmental and energy impacts of these centers…
