Ex-Clerk’s Office employee sentenced for fraudulent pistol permit approval

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A former employee of the Erie County Clerk’s Office was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge after he fraudulently approved a pistol permit, officials said on Friday.

In April 2025, the Clerk’s Office was notified by New York State Police that their Albany office received coupons for four firearms registered to an Erie County resident who did not have a record of a pistol permit, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said.

The Clerk’s Office was unable to find documentation for a pistol permit. Records showed the resident’s application was denied in March 2021…
