The Vatican has recalled several proposed closures and mergers within the Diocese of Buffalo, diocese officials confirmed Thursday.
The Vatican’s Dicastery for Clergy has ruled that Bishop Michael Fisher’s decree to merge St. Josephat Catholic Church and Resurrection Roman Catholic Church was improper and will not move forward.
The ruling will also keep open Our Lady of the Rosary Church in the village of Wilson, which Bishop Fisher had determined would lose its sacred status and be sold, diocese officials said…
