BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A program to expand affordable housing in the city of Buffalo is moving closer to its goal.
The “Building Buffalo Roots” program celebrated the first home sold through its program on Wednesday. The program — which is a collaboration with the city of Buffalo, Erie County, Belmont Housing Resources for Western New York, and the Buffalo Erie Niagara Land Improvement Corporation — is aiming to turn vacant properties into homes for low- and moderate-income buyers.
“This first closing represents exactly what Building Buffalo Roots was created to accomplish: giving a Buffalo family the opportunity to own a quality home, build equity, and put down lasting roots in our city,” Buffalo Mayor Sean Ryan said. “At the same time, we are turning long-vacant properties into homes that strengthen neighborhoods and contribute to Buffalo’s future.”…
