Niagara Falls man arrested following robbery, assault at gas station

Niagara Falls, N.Y. (WBEN) – Niagara Falls Police have arrested 57-year-old Darrion Cotton of Niagara Falls following a robbery of a gas station on Buffalo Avenue last Friday.

Cotton was arrested Monday afternoon and has been charged with one count of first degree Assault and two counts of first degree Robbery. Cotton’s bail has been set at $500,000 or $1 million bond.

Police say Cotton assaulted the gas station’s clerk with a hammer, striking her multiple times in the head during the robbery.

The victim remains in the hospital as a result of the injuries she sustained during the attack.

Cotton will be back in court Friday, Jan. 26th for a preliminary hearing.
