Buffalo Is Active: This Week’s Town Run Down

Buffalo is outside, and there’s a LOT happening around the town right now, so let’s get into this week’s Town Run Down, your community news you can use. From concerts and camps to scholarships and opportunities for our youth, the city is active, and there’s truly something for everybody.

First up… yeah, it’s getting real for everybody planning to attend Back 2 The Ballroom Part 2 Final Edition. If you’ve been saying “I’m going” but still haven’t bought your ticket, this is officially your warning. The event takes place Saturday, May 23rd at The Town Ballroom, and organizers have made it very clear that this is a TICKET-ONLY event. No tickets will be sold at the door, so don’t wait until Memorial Day Weekend to try to text your friends asking if they can still get you in. The city has been talking about this one for weeks, and it’s looking like an unforgettable closeout.

For parents looking for summer activities for the kids, Buffalo All-Star Extreme has officially opened registration for their BASE Summer Sports Camp 2026 in partnership with Health Sciences Charter School. The camp runs July 6th through August 14th, with an extended week available through August 21st. From sports and games to field trips and outdoor adventures, this is a great opportunity for youth across Western New York to stay active, connected, and engaged throughout the summer. https://www.buffaloallstarextreme.com/summer-camp

I also want to shout out Brown Kids with Disabilities for continuing to pour into our community. They’re hosting free haircuts and natural hairstyles for children at the Martha Mitchell Center on May 20th from 6 PM to 8 PM. I absolutely love seeing organizations create spaces where kids can feel confident, cared for, and celebrated.

And for students and families thinking about the future, the Hispanic Heritage Council of WNY has opened applications for the Erie Community College Pathways to Prosperity Scholarship. The scholarship supports students with tuition, books, and supplies and is another reminder that there are real resources available for those willing to apply and take advantage of them…
