CAPE CORAL, Fla. —
A tornado was reported in Cape Coral on Friday afternoon.
It touched down briefly near Southwest 27th Street, and it was reported at 4:07 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, it was a landspout tornado. A landspout is a weaker type of tornado that forms differently than traditional twisters. Rather than developing from rotation within an organized storm, a landspout begins on the ground and stretches upward, often with a rope-like condensation funnel.
