Poll: 9 out of 10 residents believe that sports make Indianapolis a ‘better place to live’

INDIANAPOLIS — A new poll conducted by the IU Indianapolis Sports Innovation Institute found that the majority of Central Indiana residents believe that sports strengthen Indianapolis’ economy and culture.

According to a news release, the poll found that nine out of 10 Central Indiana residents believe that sports make Indianapolis a better place to live.

Out of the respondents of the poll, conducted in December 2025, 83% said that Indianapolis benefits from hosting championship events, including the recent NCAA Final Four. Nearly half of sports fans polled also said that sports help them be more connected with the city…
