15 cases of explosive diarrhea illness cyclosporiasis found in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, Ind. — A parasitic illness that reportedly causes “explosive” diarrhea has now reached central Indiana after spreading through over a dozen nearby states.

Cyclosporiasis first began popping up in the United States in early May, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In a July 1 update, the CDC said that nearly 150 cases had been recorded across 17 states, including Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan.
