INDIANAPOLIS – Miss that old “Wander Indiana” or “Amber Waves of Grain” license plate?
The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is reminding Hoosiers about its “Authentic Model Year License Plate Program.” The reminder comes on “Collector Car Appreciation Day,” a nationally recognized day set aside to celebrate car restoration and collecting.
Instead of using a designated “historic” plate issued by the BMV, owners can instead use a vintage plate from the car’s model year. That means if a driver comes across an old license plate at a garage sale, flea market or online marketplace, they can use it for their vintage vehicle.
According to the BMV, vehicles eligible for the program must be at least 25 years old and registered as a historic vehicle. Owners will receive a plate with the “historic” designation and a certificate of registration that must be kept with the vehicle…
