INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) — The National Weather Service on Monday confirmed two tornadoes hit Indiana on Saturday, including a brief touchdown south of downtown Indianapolis that pushed the state’s yearly total to a record-breaking 81.
The EF-0 tornado in Indianapolis started near the corner of Madison and Southern avenues at 5:20 p.m. With peak winds of 76 mph, the storm traveled about 0.2 miles and reached a maximum width of 100 yards.
During its two-minute path, the tornado uprooted a large tree and scattered small limbs across the area. The storm damaged the siding of two homes and pushed a truck trailer into a parked truck. It snapped several trees near Christel House South Academy before vanishing at 5:22 p.m…
