In 2016, singer-songwriter Lizzie Killian wrote and released “Santa Monica,” her first statement as a solo artist performing under the name Teens In Trouble. Growing up on the west coast as a first generation Filipina-American, Killian started taking piano lessons at an early age, and when she got a little older started journaling as her main emotional outlet.
Before that year, Killian had been playing guitar in various bands around the Bay Area. She started Teens In Trouble as an outlet to find her own voice as an artist.
“I had never really been a singer. I had sung in bands before, but I really didn’t know what I was doing,” she said. “With Teens In Trouble I really wanted to try to hone in on finding my voice.”
When “Santa Monica” was released, it received positive press from local publications in the Bay Area. Killian was unemployed at the time, and once she found a job her newly launched solo project came to a halt…
