Syracuse, N.Y. — A man who police say stabbed a woman and then was in a six-hour standoff with police on Syracuse’s North Side Thursday has been charged. Franklin Hill, 42, was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest, according to Kieran Coffey, a spokesperson for Syracuse Police.

A typo by the Department of Taxation and Finance resulted in more than 50,000 tax filers paying more in taxes or receiving smaller refunds, the Times Union reported. The department said the reduced refunds for New York taxpayers were caused by a typo in a withholding table on tax forms. The error was discovered during the third week of February.
