CORALVILLE, IOWA — Former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack returned to the Hawkeye State on Friday, stopping in Coralville to see firsthand how a Goodwill of the Heartland facility is helping feed families around the world.
The World Food Prize recognizes achievements in food security and convenes global leaders each year to address issues and innovations in food and agriculture. The foundation is celebrating 40 years of excellence this year, and as part of that recognition, Vilsack visited the Goodwill of the Heartland food packaging and processing plant in Coralville.
The plant specializes in producing vegetable oil that is distributed as far away as Kenya, with the goal of helping address food insecurity affecting 733 million people…
