Storm-damaged crops prompt Iowa State Extension meeting in Jones, Linn counties

MONTICELLO, Iowa — Farmers and landowners dealing with storm-damaged corn and soybean fields in eastern Iowa will have an opportunity next week to get advice from Iowa State University Extension specialists.

The ISU Extension and Outreach offices in Jones and Linn counties will hold a free public meeting Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 23603 County Road X31 near Monticello. No registration is required.

The meeting comes after heavy winds and large hail caused severe crop damage in parts of Jones and Linn counties and surrounding areas. An ISU regional crop update said the damage ranged from leaning or bent plants to fields with significant leaf loss…
