‘I don’t think it’s going to help’: DOT plans temporary traffic signal in Swisher ahead of I-380 ramp closure

SWISHER, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa Department of Transportation plans to install a temporary traffic signal at Highway 965 and 120th Street Northwest before a southbound Wright Brothers Boulevard ramp closes in July.

The DOT says traffic has increased at the intersection because of backups on I-380 and ongoing data center construction in southwest Cedar Rapids. The ramp closure is expected to last about two months.

Residents say congestion is spreading

Swisher resident Kate Reder said she avoids the intersection entirely during peak traffic hours.
