MARION, Iowa (KCRG) – Marion leaders appeared before the Iowa Department of Transportation on Tuesday, asking for state help to secure funding for the completion of Tower Terrace Road — a project intended to connect Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, and Robins from i-380to Highway 13.
The road currently ends has several dead ends throughout its different segments. Completing it would require paving across open fields to connect to another portion of Tower Terrace Road, building bridges across streams, and connecting a second segment to get to Highway 13.
Funding gap stalls progress
Marion Public Works Director Mike Barkalow said the city of Robins will not be able to complete its portion of the project without funding assistance.
