IOWA CITY — Parking permit rate hikes taking effect in November for University of Iowa Health Care workers will hit employees of the new North Liberty hospital and Iowa River Landing clinic especially hard, according to documents and data obtained by The Gazette.
UIHC’s 700-some North Liberty employees will see their monthly rate to park in the hospital-adjacent lot increase from $20 in fiscal 2026 to $29 on Nov. 1, then to $53 on July 1, 2027, and again to $73 in July 2028 — amounting to a 265 percent increase over two years.
“These adjustments will occur over three years to give you time to plan and prepare,” UIHC CEO Brad Haws and Debby Zumbach, UI Parking and Transportation director, said in a July message to employees — referencing the three rate increases in 2026, 2027, and 2028…
